All Thompson Snares are constructed of the highest quality 1 X 19 domestic cable.  This more rigid cable easily forms a nice round noose shape and the cable is less likely to kink as compared to other cable choices.  The 1 x 19's smoother surface lets the neck lock respond quicker and its strength allows snaremen the opportunity to use smaller diameters for less visibility.  Our cable is not galvanized and does not require treatment to remove a shiny appearance.  Since 1918, Thompson Snares has chosen to utilize the 1 x 19 rather than other cable choices because it has long proven to be the best performing cable choice available.
